David "Davey" Shanks
One of the pioneers of mounding in Scotland, Davey has been preparing ground across the country for over 25 years with his own business and for over 20 years for other companies prior to that. He started off horse logging before moving onto forestry ploughing and draining and roadmaking throughout the 60's and 70's and early 80's before becoming one of the first contractors to adopt mounding as a method of ground preparation.
Davey holds both Forest Machine Operators Certificate and National Plant Operator Scheme excavator certificates as well as LANTRA ATV and HSE approved First Aid certificates.
Today Davey is one of the company directors responsible for organising the order of work and pricing jobs as well as remaining an operator.

Having grown up with a basic knowledge of the business Dave spent a few years at Newton Rigg Forestry College before returning to the family business full time in 1999, gradually building up his experience in all aspects of ground preparation.
As well as his Forest Machine Operators Certificate and National Plant Operator Scheme excavator certificate he also holds NPTC qualifications for chainsaw and ATV's and HSE approved First Aid certificate.
Dave is now one of the company directors and is responsible for Health and Safety as well as dealing with enquiries.
